A Bit About Me

Hi, I’m Nicola, a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist offering CBT and EMDR therapy.

If you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck, therapy can provide a calm and supportive space to explore what’s happening for you.

Sometimes the difficulty is clear; at other times, there’s simply a sense that something doesn’t feel quite right. Together, we can work to understand these challenges and help you move towards feeling more balanced, confident, and fulfilled.

Training & Professional Accreditation

I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), and a trained EMDR therapist through an EMDR Europe-accredited course.

My approach integrates evidence-based therapies, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

This allows me to offer personalised therapy tailored to your individual needs and goals.

Experience

I have over twelve years’ experience working with adults aged 18+ within NHS Talking Therapies services, alongside my private practice.

I work with a wide range of mental health difficulties, including:

  • Low self-esteem and confidence, including difficulties linked to work, career pressure, or workplace stress

  • Perinatal mental health difficulties, including anxiety, depression, and trauma during pregnancy and the postnatal period

  • Anxiety and generalised anxiety disorder

  • Low mood and depression

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Childhood trauma and adverse early life experiences

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • Panic attacks

  • Health anxiety

  • Specific phobias, including vomit phobia (emetophobia)

  • Body dysmorphia

  • Living with long-term health conditions such as chronic pain, long COVID, and chronic fatigue

I also provide clinical supervision for NHS and private practitioners and supervise CBT trainees at the University of Sussex.

Therapy

I offer a warm, compassionate, and structured approach to therapy, working collaboratively and at a pace that feels right for you.

Together, we will explore how your early life experiences have influenced how you see yourself and the world around you. This allows us to identify patterns that may be contributing to emotional distress in the present. We can then work to understand what keeps these patterns in place and support change, helping you heal and reconnect with what truly matters to you.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps you understand how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours interact, and provides practical tools for managing anxiety, low mood, self-criticism, phobias, and work-related stress.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy particularly effective for trauma, PTSD, and distressing life experiences. EMDR helps the brain reprocess difficult memories so they become less overwhelming.

Together, we will decide which approach — or combination of approaches — is most appropriate for you.

Look forward to hearing from you,

Nicola
