A Bit About Me

I am a BACP-registered Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor with over six years’ experience working across addiction, mental health and sexual violence services. I hold a master’s degree in psychology and a degree in Neuroscience, giving me a particular interest in the relationship between our experiences, brains, behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

I began my career in addiction services, supporting clients both one-to-one and through therapeutic groups. I worked with people to understand the factors underlying their addictions, while exploring wider areas of their lives including mental health, relationships, personal history and future goals. I also supported many clients with experiences of trauma, recognising that addiction and other coping mechanisms are often a symptom of deeper issues.  This work inspired me to train as a counsellor, during this training I worked within Emmaus, a charity supporting people experiencing homelessness. Across my professional and counselling experience, I have supported people experiencing addiction, homelessness, relationship difficulties, trauma and abuse, sexual violence, HIV, gender and trans identity issues, and a range of LGBTQIA+ experiences. This has taught me the importance of seeing each person as an individual and adapting therapy to their unique needs.

I currently work for a sexual violence charity, where I provide trauma-informed support through a confidential helpline. This has given me extensive experience supporting people in crisis and those living with complex experiences.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on psychodynamic, humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches, alongside solution-focused techniques and motivational interviewing. I adapt these approaches according to your needs, experiences and goals, with the therapeutic relationship at the heart of my work. I aim to create a safe, collaborative and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted.

Whether you are experiencing addiction, trauma, relationship difficulties, anxiety, low mood, questions around identity, or simply feel that something in your life is no longer working, I will work alongside you to understand your experiences, build on your strengths and explore meaningful change.
